History Of The Club

Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings and Guitar ensemble (NPS) was established in 1992 by Mr.Gan See Wee, with the goal of promoting classical music amongst students. The club started out with a meagre 10 members and has since developed progressively to lots of members currently.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings has performed at many outdoor events and functions. The main annual events are Virtuoso and Family concert. Other than performances, Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings also organises various activities like the annual Music camp and Tea party to facilitate more bonding and a sense of unity between the club's members.

And to facilitate our new members, we also organise Guitar/Strings Fairs where we bring guitar/strings products and accessories to our club from vendors like Synwin, Maestro Guitars etc. This is to give them an opportunity to try and test the instruments with ease and also buy them at more affordable prices.

In the year 2006, Niibori Guitar was introduced to our club and has also played the instrument for the first time during our Virtuoso 13th Concert.

The club also aims to further inspire the club members to strive to bring the club to greater heights and to further enhance the reputation of Ngee Ann Strings by constantly performing at various functions outside school, which would bring greater glory to Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Hello (:

As you all know, we will be shifting clubhouse around mid-term June.

Therefore this is the management team from April 1st - End of shifting (TBA)

OIC : Weili

Guitar :
Weijie (QM) 91370721
Wave
Yokemay

Strings :
Cabbage Joel (QM) 91859898
Sheramin ( Cello / Double Bass )
Gwen ( Viola , Violin )

Important things to take note:

#1.
Instrument Allocation

Guitar : All instruments have been allocated to the respective players.

Strings: Please do select an instrument ASAP, I know the masking tape provided keeps
peeling off, I have bought a new tape, will stick them back for you on Saturday ( 19th April ).
For those who have not selected please do select one by 23rd April ( really max, i really don't have anymore excuses for NPSU ). Or a random one will allocated to you ( like kinder egg, u don't get to choose your toy ).

#2.
Loaning of Instruments

Guitar : Instruments will be loaned out ONLY on special occasions, Please contact your
Guitar QM if you need to loan one. ( Weijie reserves the final decision ).

Strings : Instruments will be loaned out on a case by case basis. Please take note that
for cello's we will void the usage of the "consent form" but the Cello allocated to you will be
your responsibility. Therefore you are free to take them home for practice, same goes for violin.
However if u do wish to bring home your instrument please notify,
Sheramin ( Cello )
Gwen ( Violin )
( They have the final decision ).

#3.
Instruments with missing strings

Guitar: No missing strings (:

Strings: We have checked all the instruments and have noticed missing strings for
the cello and violins, we are aware of the problem and will get them replaced ASAP.
Please note that violins with missing strings can still be selected, while your instrument is under maintenance, you will be allocated a TEMPORARY one. Cello 10 has a miss C string,
However, there is no C string in the QM's cupboard, the string will be bought once i can get the money and the time to buy the string.

#4.

Where to place your Instruments

Strings:
Top rack- Personal violins
3rd rack- Allocated violins

2nd rack- Non-allocated violins
1st rack- Non allocated violins
floor- To be disposed violins

#5.
Apologies

Strings: I am aware that all this allocation of instruments is totally new
and you may not be used to it or you may prefer to use your old instruments
but this are orders passed to me. I am seriously trying my best to find a solution
that can make everyone happy, but you know it's not possible. For Cello and Violin affected people with instruments clash, i am seriously trying my best to get you
the instrument of your liking, although you may not like what you get now
please be assured it is temporary.

The strings side management is busy at the moment.
But we're doing all we can.

Really Really Sorry if you don't like this new implementation
neither do I .
But Rules are Rules, I can bend but i can't break them.
So please do understand.

wirklich bekümmert

Regards.
Cabbage
