History Of The Club

Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings and Guitar ensemble (NPS) was established in 1992 by Mr.Gan See Wee, with the goal of promoting classical music amongst students. The club started out with a meagre 10 members and has since developed progressively to lots of members currently.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings has performed at many outdoor events and functions. The main annual events are Virtuoso and Family concert. Other than performances, Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings also organises various activities like the annual Music camp and Tea party to facilitate more bonding and a sense of unity between the club's members.

And to facilitate our new members, we also organise Guitar/Strings Fairs where we bring guitar/strings products and accessories to our club from vendors like Synwin, Maestro Guitars etc. This is to give them an opportunity to try and test the instruments with ease and also buy them at more affordable prices.

In the year 2006, Niibori Guitar was introduced to our club and has also played the instrument for the first time during our Virtuoso 13th Concert.

The club also aims to further inspire the club members to strive to bring the club to greater heights and to further enhance the reputation of Ngee Ann Strings by constantly performing at various functions outside school, which would bring greater glory to Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

East Coast Park Outing

Hello everybody!~!!!!! see the family concert post for very long alreayd right..very sian right..heehee..i come and ka jiao(disturb) a bit...hey hey...this coming Thursday is a public holiday!!!weeee...i wish everyone in advance a happy deepavali..anyway right..on this very day we will be having a outing to East Coast Park...details will be confirm again.we will just be hanging out with each other..spending time together..it's totally not compulsory..it's just up to you to come..you can come play frisbee, cycle, swim in the sea..build sandcastle..rollarblading..talk to each other..have meals with each other..smile at each other..yupp yupp..i just need you all to roughly let me know if you guys are interested..you can post a comment on the tag board or write it on our club's notice board or just let your instructors know or let Dalziel and i know..this very notice is quite last minute..so i need the help of those reading this now..to spread the news..you can bring along friends from outside npstrings to come join us..but of course lah..dun sit in one corner and dun talk to us..k??heehee...hope to hear from you all real soon..see you guys around..oh ya...please remember to practise pracTISE PRACTISE..everybody...your next goal after the family concert is the annual Virtuoso Concert XV (2008)..let's all work doubly hard...aiya..see lah..i wasted my time..typing this..or else i can go practise one eh...hahhaha..joking..HAHA!

STRINGS--------for this week's saturday's senior and intermediates class..we will be having our own practice..jus getting together to practise. after which if possible..we'll head down to Far East Plaza to watch a Mini Concert( around 4pm to 5pm start)....Mr Kong will be performing there..and probably we might want to go give him our support..yup. everyone's welcome to join us..especially the beginners/freshies that do not know or have not seen Mr Kong who is our instructor other than Yang Yang and will be yours when you get promoted..Go there and see how an external performance is like..

Guitar side people are also welcomed!!!! see all you guys SOON!!! i hope to see replies for the outing...this thursday no class for strings seniors and intermediates..=D=D

the outing is for EVERYONE>..big small tall not so tall young a little more mature alumni present club members guitarists cellist violinist violist E-V-E-R-Y-B-O-D-Y!!!!
