History Of The Club

Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings and Guitar ensemble (NPS) was established in 1992 by Mr.Gan See Wee, with the goal of promoting classical music amongst students. The club started out with a meagre 10 members and has since developed progressively to lots of members currently.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings has performed at many outdoor events and functions. The main annual events are Virtuoso and Family concert. Other than performances, Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings also organises various activities like the annual Music camp and Tea party to facilitate more bonding and a sense of unity between the club's members.

And to facilitate our new members, we also organise Guitar/Strings Fairs where we bring guitar/strings products and accessories to our club from vendors like Synwin, Maestro Guitars etc. This is to give them an opportunity to try and test the instruments with ease and also buy them at more affordable prices.

In the year 2006, Niibori Guitar was introduced to our club and has also played the instrument for the first time during our Virtuoso 13th Concert.

The club also aims to further inspire the club members to strive to bring the club to greater heights and to further enhance the reputation of Ngee Ann Strings by constantly performing at various functions outside school, which would bring greater glory to Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

06 October 2007 : 12pm – 5pm
10 October 2007 : 5pm – 10pm
17 October 2007 : 6.30pm – 10pm
20 October 2007 : 12.30pm – 4.30pm

Please keep yourself free during the various dates!

Attire

Guys: white shirt (collared) with black tie
Ladies: white blouse with black tie

Bottom: jeans (black/blue)

Footwear: covered shoes (no slippers/sandals)

We will be getting the black tie for everyone. Therefore, we will be collecting $5 from each of you for the purchase of the tie. Please pay to either side coordinators.

Things to bring for Music Camp 2007:

-1 Torchlight

-Personal Effects
---soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, body powder, mug, shaving kit, sanitary napkins(for ladies)

-Personal medication

-Mosquito Repellant

-Notebook & Pen

-1 set of old clothes

-Your OWN respective instrument(Volin/Guitar)

*You are allowed to bring tidbits and snacks. However, alcoholic drinks are not allowed, especially in dormitories.

*Expensive gadgets are discouraged such as laptops, handphones, MP3s, iPod…..(you can still bring if you can’t live without them.)
However, we will not be responsible for any damage or loss.
