Performances anyone?
Just an excerpt for the China Philharmonic Orchestra:
China's foremost orchestra will be in Singapore for the first time to bring you an exquisite evening of classics.
Led by prolific conductor Long Yu, CPO's debut performance in Singapore will include Wagner's Tannhauser Overture, Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings and the work of China composer Ye Xiaogang's ambitious recreation of Gustav Mahler's The Song of the Earth. Featuring China's renowned baritone Yuan Chenye and soprano Lu Qi, the work received critical acclaim during the orchestra's tour to America in 2005.
The China Philharmonic Orchestra has collaborated with many renowned musicians of our time and has just completed a tour of 22 cities in the United States, Canada, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, United Kingdom and Germany to standing ovations.
And for the two violinists:
Honoured with the highest performance awards in the Paganini International Violin Competition in Italy, both Lu Siqing and Huang Mengla represent two of the finest and most accomplished violinists to come out of China.
Known for their renditions of Paganini, their interpretation of the 24 Caprices bring new meaning to the masterpieces. This evening’s programme also includes Waxman’s Carmen Fantasy performed by Huang, Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen by Lu and Elgar’s Salut d’amor, a duet. Shane Thio accompanies on piano.
All of them have been featured in the papers recently, with the papers urging everyone to go watch as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Last time I checked Sistic, the tickets are really going fast.
I seriously urge everyone to go, especially people from the Strings side. For those who thought you saw some really crazy playing at the Foon Yew concert or at the National Violin and Piano competition, you have absolutely no idea what you will witness at this concerts...especially for the violin duo one. If you have never seen or heard Paganini's 24 Caprices, be in for a big shock man.
No disrespect to Mr Kong, but they are probably at his level, or better.
Anyone who is interested please please let me know before the 28th of Jan, which means this Saturday. I will try and get the tickets at student price, which is $30.
For more information, you can go to the sistic website for the China Philharmonica Orchestra at Here
Their own Homepage
And for the violin duo Here
And their own Homepage
Due to the fact that I am quite quite excited, I have taken the liberty in sourcing out what pieces they are going to play, so for the China Philharmonic Orchestra, they will be playing:
Richard Wagner: Tannhauser Overture
Tchaikovsky: Serenade for Strings
Ye Xiaogang: The Song of the Earth
And as for the violin duo:
Paganini: 24 Caprices
Waxman: Carmen Fantasy
Chen Gang: Miao Mountain Morning
Sarasate: Zigeunerweisen
Chen Gang: Sunshine over Tashkurgan
Elgar: Salut d'Amor
Monti: Czardas
Personally, I am more excited over the violin duo one, cause most of the pieces they will be playing are really famous ones.....beautiful ones too lol.
But anyway, as mentioned earlier, the China Philharmonic Orchestra will perform on the 4th of Feb, and the violin duo on the 7th, both starting their performances at 7.30, should probably last for about 1 or 1.5 hours at the most. And of course, both performances will be held at Singapore's most famous "durians".
For all the sk people, I meant the Esplanade.
So all those who are interested, let me know ok? And try and spread the word around cause I know for a fact that some people hardly come in here to read the wonderful stuff we post here.
Cheers.
